With the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime receiving a fair share of leaks and rumors, we thought we had this smartphone figured out on the most part. However, following a new set rumors coming from none other than @evleaks, we’re no longer certain if the mysterious Samsung smartphone bearing the model number “SM-G906” is indeed the SGS5 Prime. In fact, more recent data indicates that the said smartphone could be associated with the “SM-G901” model number, and this makes things bit more difficult to figure out.
To make the situation even more interesting, a new Samsung Galaxy S5 model boasting the model number “SM-G906A” has just been spotted in AnTuTu’s database. Let’s take a look at what it has to offer, and hopefully we can shed more light on this phone’s identity.
Samsung Galaxy S5 Model (Prime, Active) Running Android 4.4.3 Pops-Up in AnTuTu
As you can see in the image above, a new Samsung smartphone boasting the model number “SM-G906A” has just been spotted in AnTuTu. The said smartphone appears to be featuring a 5.2 inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, giving us reasons to believe that what we’re looking at is NOT the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime. The latter has been rumored to feature a QHD / 2560 x 1440 resolution, and the only reason to consider the possibility of this being the Prime is because this particular unit might be a pre-production model.
The gadget also features a Snapdragon 801 SoC with a CPU frequency of 2.5 GHz, an Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, a 16 MP main camera complemented by a 2 MP front-facing sensor, and Android 4.4.3 out of the box.
Based on these specifications, what we might be looking at could be the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. On the other hand, the SGS5 Active has been previously associated with the “GM870” model number, so we still don’t have any solid leads on this mysterious device.
Either way, one thing that we can be certain about is that Android 4.4.3 is on its way, and chances are that it will hit the waves sooner rather than later. As usual, we’ll keep you up to speed as soon as the story develops, so stay tuned.
