The quest for launching Ice Cream Sandwich on a wider range of devices continues, despite the fact that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is on its way on becoming the new “standard”.
For Samsung the adventure continues and despite the fact that they are already working on launching Jelly Bean on the Galaxy S3, the Galaxy S2 and the Samsung Galaxy Note, there are many other devices out there that are still running on Gingerbread/Honeycomb and most of them are smartphones/tablets that are tied up with carriers. Such is the case with the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 from Rogers, but hopefully things are about to change.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 Ice Cream Sandwich Update To Be Available In Early September at Rogers (Android 4 ICS)
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.1) at Rogers
The Canadian carrier has finally spilled the beans concerning the plans on updating some devices from its lineup to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
According to the carrier’s list (which also includes the already updated HTC Evo 3D and HTC Raider), both the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 will receive the highly-anticipated in “early September”. No exact roll-out date has been given by the carrier, but I suppose it’s safe to assume that if you happen to own the Tab 10.1 or 8.9 from Rogers you should be able to grab ICS over-the-air within the following couple of weeks.
Hopefully things will go as smooth as they claim and the waiting will soon be over. Do you happen to own a Galaxy Tab? Are you excited about Android 4.0 or have you already lost interest by now?
Thanks Android Central for the heads-up regarding the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 Ice Cream Sandwich update at Rogers.
