Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Ice Cream Sandwich: When and Where ? (Android 4 ICS)

Great news for those of you who own the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, as the highly anticipated Ice Cream Sandwich update has already been deployed in some regions, on some versions/models of the device.

Reports are coming in indicating that Android 4.0 has hit the waves, bringing with lots of ICS-related improvements and a new, enhanced user interface as well. Check back after the break for details.

As you may recall, roughly two weeks ago we talked at great length about the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and its Ice Cream Sandwich update at Bell. This time around we’re not talking about the Bell variant, but the release-window of the update coincides with the one at the Canadian carrier so the latter might not be far off.

Now however, if you live in the UK and you own the Wi-Fi only Tab 10.1 (GT-P7510) then make sure you go down to Settings > About Tablet > Software Updates and check whether or not you’ve received a notification.

Furthermore, the Italian 3G Galaxy Tab 10.1 (GT-P7500) has also received Ice Cream Sandwich update so if you happen to own this particular device, and haven’t received Android 4.0 so far, make sure you check for updates regularly. Alternatively you could also try updating through the Samsung Kies desktop software.

Concerning owners of the Tab 10.1 outside UK or Italy, there’s no word on when exactly will the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android 4 ICS update hit the waves but it shouldn’t take long now, so sit tight and try to muster what patience you have left after eight months of waiting.

That’s pretty much it, make sure you drop us a line, especially if you happen to own a Tab 10.1 and you’ve received the update already. Including the region you reside in would be swell.

  Well i contacted Samsung and guess what? There is no update available in Canada. Mind you after my lengthy compliant ,and well lets just say that if this is the way samsung and other manufactures are going to update their devices with ever changing update deadlines. Then i might as well get a windows 8 tablet when released since microsoft is very good with release dates. Mind you i understand that android itself is ever changing at a faster rate. Then again if you cant meet a deadline and confirm it. Don’t get your customers hopes up because you will either piss em off or you will get those other people that say stop whining because i think my device is fine the way it is.
  
  Samsung support did send my complaint to the concern department and they said they will surely look at this. So lets hope this speeds things up for all of those without ics and that were promised to have it.

    I forgot to add this but google should also be blamed since they announced the os early in october without notice to manfactures which puts them under pressure. If they were smart they would do what microsoft and apple do which is to annouce an os update f.’or all devices on one set date in accordamce with device manufactures.

I’m getting a bit peeved – my son’s P7510 32gb got its update OTA in the UK last week and yet they still haven’t got the P7500 update sorted – are they having problems with the 3G that they are not telling us?

You can’t just blame Samsung for these delays, Google and the Android architecture have to share much of the blame.

Trully… Im disapointed with the ics update we are not even shure if they will send it up to all the 10.1 tabs around the globe!!! We are also customers!!! Btw in Venezuela the update its not running… We are all waiting samsung!!!

No official release date for gt p7500 in uk ,so said Linda from Samsung UK on-line support centre on 14th September
