Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 – How Does It Compare Against Its Predecessor
Samsung continues to pump-out tons of devices, as it’s customary with the manufacturer, and just a few days ago we’ve reported that the Korean giant has finally lifted the veil off the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0.
The aforementioned tablet is a direct successor to last year’s Tab 2, and same as the latter, the Tab 3 isn’t aimed at the high-end market segment. That being said, if you’re looking forward to buying a new affordable slate, this particular device might be what you were looking for.
Nonetheless, on paper, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 doesn’t look like much of an upgrade when compared to the Galaxy Tab 2, which is disappointing. Fortunately, according to benchmarks, that’s not entirely the case.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 vs Tab 2 – Benchmarks
What you see above is a comparison between the scores yielded in GFXBench by the Tab 2 and Tab 3. According to these results, the recently announced slate is considerably more powerful than its predecessor, so if you were wondering if it’s worth the upgrade, then you might now have the answer you were looking for.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3’s appearance in these benchmarks has also revealed that the device packs a Marvell PXA986 chipset alongside a Vivante GC1000 graphics chip. It’s not the most powerful combination on the market, but it does its job.
Unfortunately, this extra processing power doesn’t change the fact that the slate packs a 7 inch display that delivers a pretty low resolution – 600 x 1024. That’s the same as last year’s Tab 2, and it’s also lower than what the Nexus 7 has to offer.
Nevertheless, the Tab 3 7.0 shapes up to be a decent affordable slate, but the deciding factor will be the price-tag, once it will be revealed.
