About a week ago we’ve had the opportunity to bring good news to some of you, mainly to some of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 owners out there that have or should have received the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update by now.
The story continues as the roll-out expands to a new region, so in case you’re among those who are still eagerly waiting for the newer OS to arrive on your 8.9 incher, join us after the break and we’ll tell you what to expect.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4 ICS)
Alright folks, I’m fairly sure that you want to hear this as soon as possible so, to keep the long story short, those of you who reside (mainly) in Austria and happen to own the Tab 8.9 GT-P7300 model should receive Ice Cream Sandwich OTA even as we speak. If not then you can always check for updates manually or grab that USB cable and use Samsung’s KIES software in order to grab the new firmware.
As for what to expect from this newer Android OS iteration, Ice Cream Sandwich should deal with some of that Honeycomb-specific animation choppiness, so you should benefit from a noticeable increase in performance. Battery life is also going to improve so in other words, make sure you grab the update as soon as possible.
In the meantime we’ll keep our eyes peeled on Samsung and hopefully, Android 4.0 will get to see a release in other regions and on various other Tab 8.9 models sooner rather than later. Feel free to drop us a line and let us know whether or not you’ve received your fair share of ICS and if so, let us know what other improvements you’ve noticed.
Thanks Sam Mobile for the heads-up regarding the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Ice Cream Sandwich update.
