Sony Honami – New Rumors About Release Date and Specs
Last week, the very first rumors surrounding the so called “Sony Honami” have surfaced, bringing along a handful of impressive (but speculated) hardware specs.
Judging by rumors concerning not only the Honami but other devices as well (such as the Nexus 5, the Samsung Galaxy Zoom and/or the Lumia PureView), this year the mobile market might make a turn towards delivering more camera-centric smartphones. So far however, the Sony Honami has shaped up to be the most impressive one of the bunch, but it gets even better.
New rumors have recently poped-up, revealing Sony Honami’s alleged release date timeframe and certain hardware characteristics. Evidently, it’s too early to be sure if these rumors reflect the reality, but if they do, then here’s what you can expect from this beast.
Sony Honami – a.k.a. Sony i1
First of all, let’s address the name-tag. As explained before, this particular gadget (that may or may not exist) is known under the codename “Honami”, but according to the latest bits of information, the handset’s actual name will be the “Sony i1”.
Now to the more interesting part: the hardware specs. According to the latest reports, the i1 / Honami will pack a 5-inch Full HD Reality / Triluminos display featuring X-Reality tech, a Snapdragon 800 CPU clocked at 2.3 GHz, an Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB of RAM or more, 32 GB of internal storage expandable by microSD, Android 4.2.2 or up, and a 2,930 mAh battery or larger.
Furthermore, the handset will allegedly feature liquid magnetic stereo speakers, a dedicated WALKMAN chip and will also be covered in Sapphire glass (front), and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 (back), boasting dust and water resistance rated at IP58.
Last but definitely not least, the handset will supposedly pack a 16.2 MP Cyber-shot rear-facing camera with an Exmor RS sensor, G Lens and Xenon flash or Dual LED / Plasma Flash.
Sony Honami Release Date
Now that we’ve got all these amazing (but not yet real) hardware specs out of the way, we should also mention that, according to the latest rumors, the Sony Honami will allegedly go on sale in the States only in unlocked form, so you won’t have the option of buying a carrier subsidized one.
As for the expected launch date, it has been speculated that the gadget will see the light of day sometime in September or October.
Once again, we advise you to be somewhat skeptical about these rumors. After all, they are not based on solid evidence and whether or not they reflect the reality remains to be seen.
Thanks Phone Arena for the heads-up regarding the Sony Honami release date and specs.
