Sony Xperia J: Jelly Bean Update Goes Live

Interestingly enough, a lot of smartphones have made the jump to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean lately, including the HTC One X from AT&T, the HTC One S from Bell and Virgin Mobile, as well as the Sony Xperia T and Sony Xperia TL at AT&T, just to name a few.

But speaking of Xperia handsets, you might remember that at the end of last year we’ve reported that Android 4.1 should hit the waves and head towards the Xperia J sometime towards the end of Q1 2013. Well folks, surprisingly or not, the handset is indeed receiving its fair share of Jelly Bean as we speak.

Xperia J owners should momentarily receive the highly-anticipated Android 4.1 update (assuming that they haven’t got it already) as the new OS is currently being deployed, as usual, over-the air.

The newer operating system (build number 11.2.A.0.21) brings along a handful of new features such as Google Now and Project Butter, just to name a couple.

Remember that in case you aren’t receiving the update, you should try to perform a manual check via the settings menu, and if that doesn’t help, keep in mind that OTA updates are usually being rolled-out gradually / in phases, which means that you might have to wait a bit more until you’ll get your turn to pull down the files from the servers.

Alternatively you can hook up your handset to your PC and fire up the PC Companion software.

Whichever method you’ll rely on, the good news is that the waiting is over and we’re glad to witness the arrival of yet another smartphone into Jelly Bean territory.

Stay tuned and feel free to drop us a line if you’ve already received the update.

Thanks GSM Arena for the heads-up regarding the Sony Xperia J Jelly Bean release.
