Sony Xperia P Ice Cream Sandwich Rollout Begins – See What’s New (Android 4 ICS)

by Catalin on August 19, 2012

The Sony Xperia S, Xperia P and Xperia Sola have recently arrived in the US, but the good news keep on coming. We heard news regarding the Sony Xperia P Ice Cream Sandwich update a short while ago, when the manufacturer announced that its release date is just around the corner. And guess what ? True to its words, Sony has begun rolling out the update so, if you are the lucky owner of a Sony Xperia P, get ready to find out what the update brings.

Sony Xperia P Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4 ICS)

The Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Sony Xperia P delivers tons of cool features like some new media apps: “WALKMAN”, “Album” and “Movies”. The first one is the one that caught my eye since the company was known for its WALKMAN series of phones in the past.

Included is also an extended standby mode that can increase the standby battery time by up to four times. The Sony Xperia P Android 4 ICS update allows for new functionality right from the lock screen and also brings resizable widgets that allow new personalization options.

One of the great features I liked about Android 4 ICS was the introduction of recent apps, which gives you access to recently launched applications. There are other improvements as well and obviously the advantage of running one of the newest versions of the Android platform.

Note that the Sony Xperia P Android 4 ICS update has been launched globally, however, there can be limitations in some countries depending on how carriers are handling their business. Also, make sure to use the Sony PC Companion or the Bridge software for Mac to check for the update if you do not receive the OTA notification.

Let us know if you managed to grab the update and how it works out for you!
