As previously mentioned, the Sony Xperia S has hit the market earlier this year with Gingerbread out of the box and a promise from Sony that their range of new Xperia phones, including the S, will get an Ice Cream Sandwich update in a timely manner. Concerning their newest flagship phone, the manufacturer has revealed that the Sony Xperia S Ice Cream Sandwich update will be rolled out in the later part of Q2.
Now, as you might recall, there was a post on their support forum claiming that the Xperia S is planned to get the update in the late-May/early-July timeslot. As good as that sounded, unfortunately this timeslot was posted due to an error and the definitive timeframe was once again set to late-Q2.
As it turns out Sony managed to keep its word and the Android 4 update for the Sony Xperia S is currently rolling out, bringing alongside with it a whole bunch of goodies.
Sony Xperia S Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4 ICS)
In case you’ve followed us for some time you might also be aware that a video showing-off some of the features brought by the Ice Cream Sandwich update has surfaced at the beginning of this month, albeit the video was not in English so not many people understood what it was said during the presentation.
Now, with the arrival of the Android 4 update on our Xperia S, the manufacturer also released a video showing off the ICS features as well as some additional tweaks to already existent apps such as Movies, Album and Walkman. Check out the video below if you wish to see the Xperia S running with ICS in action, and if you own the Xperia S make sure you grab the update while its hot. Drop us a line and let us know how the process went.
Last but not least, Kudos to Sony for keeping their word and delivering the update within the earlier announced timeframe. Many other manufacturers could learn from their punctuality.
Thanks AndroidCentral for the heads-up regarding the Sony Xperia S Ice Cream Sandwich update.
