We’re quite excited about how Q4 shaped up so far. We’ve got quite a few mind-blowing high-end devices waiting to be released sometime in the near future, including the HTC One X+, the HTC J Butterfly (a.k.a. Droid Incredible X), the new LG Nexus 4, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Alpha and a ton of other gadgets.
There’s also the Android 4.1 update that seems to gain more traction and appears to get ready for a roll-out on multiple other devices, including quite a few Motorola handsets and some of the latest Xperia smartphones.
Speaking of Sony and its plans concerning Jelly Bean, the manufacturer has unveiled that not only these newer gadgets will receive the highly-anticipated update, but a few older smartphones will join the party as well.
Sony Xperia S, acro S, Ion, P, Go and Xperia J Jelly Bean Update (Android 4.1)
Indeed folks, the sub-title above contains all the other smartphones from Sony’s line-up that are planned to receive Android 4.1 in the future. However, as good as that sounds let’s not get overly excited. It’s great that we have confirmation straight from the horse’s mouth, but Sony has not revealed any roll-out date or timeslot in which we can expect the update to land.
Nevertheless, since the newer Xperia handsets are expected to receive Jelly Bean in mid-Q1 2013, we suspect that the smartphones mentioned above are not going to make the leap to Android 4.1 earlier than that.
Furthermore, the official statement from Sony concerns only the international variants of the device and no info has been revealed so far about the update’s whereabouts on some of the US models .
Whichever Xperia you happen to own, stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted as soon as the story develops.
Thanks Android Central for the heads-up regarding the Sony Xperia S, acro S, Xperia Ion, P, Go and Xperia J Jelly Bean update.
