In mid-July we’ve talked in great detail about the Sony Xperia SL, the beefed-up Xperia S expected to hit the mobile market this summer boasting slightly better specs and a few more colors for those interested (well, who isn’t?). In case you’re excited about the Sony Xperia SL and wanted to learn more ever since it first popped-up on the radar, then stick around because the device in question has surfaced once again. This time however things appear to be a bit different when compared to our last encounter.

Sony Xperia SL Surfaces Again (Faster CPU, New Colors) - Getting Ready For Prime-Time ?
Sony Xperia SL Surfaces Once Again
We’ve previously seen the Xperia SL showing up on our radars wearing pink and blue colors. Apparently that information might not be 100% accurate because the device has surfaced in some new pictures once again, this time however boasting pink and silver color schemes. That being said, the final product might not be available in blue, but if pink is what you’re looking for, I think you’re safe.
As mentioned before though, the SL is not only about the colors so, let’s recap a bit and see what the SL is actually about.
Considering the fact that the Sony Xperia S was the manufacturer’s flagship phone when it got launched earlier this year, fact of the matter is, it was never as powerful or as full of features as the competition. It came with Gingerbread out of the box (alongside a promise for ICS), and a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S3 CPU. Meanwhile HTC was presenting their mid/high-end device, the HTC One S, boasting a Snapdragon S4 CPU and Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box.
That being said Sony believes the Xperia S needs to be revamped and so they’ve decided to take the S back to the drawing board, throw in some extra colors and boost the CPU speed by 200 MHz.

Sony Xperia SL Surfaces Again - Pink Flavor
To summarize things up, the major changes brought forth by the SL consist in a 1.7 GHz Snapdragon S3 CPU and Android 4.0.4 out of the box. In addition, in order for this particular device to differentiate itself from the rest of the bunch Sony will throw in a couple of additional colors.
That’s pretty much it. We don’t know when exactly will the SL hit the market but it looks like it’s getting closer to it’s finish line. Besides, Sony is expected to make an appearance at the upcoming IFA show in Berlin so we might get to see the SL in action by the end of this month, alongside the company’s new rumored Xperia tablet.
Stay tuned as we’ll keep you up to speed.
Thanks Android Central for the heads-up regarding the Sony Xperia SL.
