Not long ago we’ve reported that the upcoming Sony 1080p smartphones that have been previously known as the Sony Yuga and Sony Odin are expected to make an appearance at CES (in about a week from now), and with the imminent unveiling of these two devices, a couple of renders have also popped-up on the official Sony website despite the fact that the manufacturer hasn’t actually issued a press release just yet.
Nonetheless, the image below says a lot about these upcoming gadgets, at least when it comes to their designs so take a look at both and join us after the break for more details.
Sony Xperia ZL and Xperia Z (ex Sony Odin and Sony Yuga)
Here they are folks, the Xperia ZL (left) is the ex-Xperia X or better known as the Sony Odin, whereas the gadget to the right is the Xperia Z, previously known as the Sony Yuga.
Both gadgets pack a 1080p display that shares the same size but it appears that the ZL has a smaller footprint than its sibling, and perhaps even smaller than the Droid DNA or the Galaxy S3.
Spec-wise, these two handsets should also pack similar hardware, including a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon CPU, 2 GB of RAM, NFC, and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.
There are also reports about a 12 or 13 MP camera on the back, and by the looks of it, the Xperia ZL has a front facing shooter that has been unconventionally positioned below the bottom-right corner of the display.
There’s not much else to say about these two 5-inchers at this point, other than the fact that at least the Xperia Z is expected to make an appearance at CES and that it might go on sale in China later this month. Nonetheless, nothing is set in stone until Sony says so, and with that in mind, we’ll continue to keep an eye out in order to find out more regarding these gadgets. Stay tuned!
