Although Sony has already released two flagship phones in 2014, the Japanese manufacturer is now allegedly working on a couple of new top-tier devices for the second half of 2014. Both the Xperia Z3 and the Z3 Compact have been the subject of a handful of leaks and rumors during these past several weeks, but the Z3 has actually broken the silence nearly two months ago, when the alleged metal frame of the device has surfaced on the web in a leaked image.
Today we bring you more news from Sony’s front, as a fresh leak now hints at Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact’s release date time-frame.
Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact to be Released in September?
The screenshot you see above has been recently shared by the guys over at Go2Android and it allegedly details the rules of a raffle held by Vodafone. The winners will win a trip to New York on Black Friday which is pretty sweet, but what really interests us is the fact that the Sony Xperia Z3 as well as the Xperia Z3 Compact are both mentioned in the internal document, alongside the Xperia Z2, Z2 Compact, M2, and a handful of other devices from Sony’s smartphone line-up. The HTC One M8 and M8 Mini are listed as well.
Since the raffle takes place between 1st of July and September 30 (it actually says that both the Xperia Z3 and the Z3 Compact are worth 1.5 Points – which we assume means they will be available for purchase before the end of September) and given the fact that both the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact are expected to be unveiled at IFA in early September, we can speculate that the aforementioned gadgets will go on sale shortly after (which is totally opposite the way Sony handled Xperia Z2’s launch).
Of course, there’s always the question if the screenshot above is genuine or not, so until more details surface, we suggest you take the information with a pinch of salt.
Are any of our readers waiting for Sony’s upcoming flagship phones? If so, then which one are you more interested in? The full-size Z3, or the Compact?
