Behold The Sony Xperia Z3X: Renders, Trimaster El Display, SD 810 and More (Rumors)

As most of you are aware of, Sony’s new strategy for the mobile market is to release a new flagship phone every 6 months or so. The company’s latest top tier device is of course the Sony Xperia Z2, but the handset in question shouldn’t enjoy its time under the spotlight for much longer. The Japanese manufacturer already has a sequel in the works, and if most of the recent leaks and rumors turn out to be accurate, the Xperia Z3 should go live in about two months from now.

Interestingly enough though, we start this week off with a brand new report coming from the Chinese media, suggesting that Sony is working on yet another flagship device, bearing the “Xperia Z3X” moniker. More details below.

Sony Xperia Z3X – Leaked Renders and Alleged Specs

The image above has surfaced on the Chinese blogosphere not too long ago, and what we’re looking at is the alleged Sony Xperia Z3X. The render showcases a gadget with almost no bezel, a thin profile and a very large main camera on the back, similar to what you’d normally get from a Nokia camera-centric device such as the Lumia 1020.

The source of the image has also shed some light on Sony Xperia Z3X’s hardware specifications, and according to the data so far, the device should sport a 6.14-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1152. More intriguing however is the idea that the smartphone’s screen will be part of the Trimester El touch screen family. Sony’s Trimaster El OLED display technology is said to be superior to conventional OLED, as the panel is capable of producing unrivaled levels of black, accurate gamma, high levels of contrast and dynamic range, wide color space and high consistency and stability. Up until now, Trimaster El OLED displays have been produced in sizes from 7.4 to 25 inches, so this would be the first instance in which the technology would cross over to the mobile segment.

Aside from the display, the Sony Xperia Z3X is supposedly going to pack a 22 MP, 2/3-inch main camera, and is expected to be powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor. The smartphone’s overall dimensions, according to the source, will be 69.5 × 150.1 × 7.9mm, and based on the rendered shot above, the device will also be accompanied by some rather professional-looking photo-centric accessories.

Last but not least, since the Sony Xperia Z3X is said to pack a powerful Snapdragon 810 CPU, the smartphone is not going to make its way on the market before 2015. The source suggests that the Xperia Z3X will actually hit the shelves in the second half of next year.

That’s all we have for now, but we’ll keep an eye out so stay tuned, and don’t forget to share your thoughts on the Sony Xperia Z3X in the comment section below.
