While some of the biggest smartphone makers have unveiled their premium flagships for H1 2015 either at CES or the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, one of the companies that’s been missing from the picture was, and still is Sony. The highly anticipated Sony Xperia Z4 should be unveiled relatively soon (on account of us already being in mid-April if nothing else) but the Japanese tech giant has yet to set a fixed announcement date in stone.
However with a bit of luck, Sony enthusiasts might find out all there is to know about the Xperia Z4 in just a few days from now. More details right after the break.
Sony Xperia Z4 to be Unveiled on April 20
Earlier this week, the Japanese media apparently passed along a very interesting report concerning Sony’s near-future plans. According to these sources, Sony will unveil a new Xperia smartphone in Japan, no later than April 20. While there’s no concrete evidence to suggest that the mysterious device will be the Xperia Z4, it’s difficult not to take this possibility in account given the amount of Xperia Z4-related leaks that emerged lately, and also because the Z4 is a long-time coming after all.
Presumably, the Sony Xperia Z4 will feature a 5.2-inch display with a Full HD or QHD resolution (possibly two separate variants), and a Snapdragon 801 SoC with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four additional Cortex-A57 cores running at frequencies of 2.0 GHz. The CPU should be accompanied by an Adreno 430 GPU, a whopping 4 GB of RAM, 32 or 64 GB of storage expandable by up to 128 GB, a 20.7 MP primary camera complemented by a 5 MP front-facing sensor, and Android Lollipop out of the box.
Whatever the final specifications may be, we’ll keep you posted as soon as we find out more about this possible launch date so stay tuned.
