Before the Samsung Galaxy S3 stole all the headlines I remember when the Galaxy S2 owners were waiting for the highly anticipated Android 4 update for their top-of-the-line handset. Now the next-gen S3 has been launch in the Europe and we’re waiting its US and Canadian launch, but if you’d think that in the meantime every Galaxy S2 out there got the Ice Cream Sandwich update you’d be wrong.
Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich at T-Mobile (Android 4 ICS)
Despite the fact that ICS for the SGS2 has been rolled out in select regions of Europe more than two months ago and although the update has been made available in the US in mid-April (for the unlocked S2s out there), some carriers haven’t managed to deliver Android 4 as of yet. Fortunately, for those of you owning the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 things are about to change in a matter of days. Join us after the break for more.

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich Release Date: Coming Soon (Android 4 ICS)
As you may recall, initial rumors indicated that the Android 4 update for the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 should roll-out starting mid-May. At that time however this alleged timeslot was merely a rumor and both Samsung and T-Mobile have not confirmed anything, so now that we’re in June it’s quite obvious that the update was not scheduled for a mid-May launch.
Fortunately the Magenta network has finally made an announcement via Twitter, pinpointing the exact date when T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 owners will be able to get the sought after Ice Cream Sandwich update. The carrier announced that June 11 will be the big day when we’ll be able to update our Galaxy S2s. One more reason why we shouldn’t just retire the Galaxy S2.
The update itself will not be rolled out over the air, instead SGS2 owners will need to perform the task via the Samsung Kies software.
That’s about it folks, it was a long and arduous journey for the Galaxy S2 and its ICS update, but the waiting is almost over. Remember to check out the update starting June 11, and we’ll keep you posted in case something comes up in the meantime. Let’s hope that will not be the case.
Thanks AndroidCentral for the heads-up regarding the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich release date.
