Some of you might remember when, in mid July, after some leaks hinted that a Tegra 4 powered model of the ZTE Geek was in the works, the manufacturer confirmed that the U988S will indded be the first Tegra 4 powered smartphone. However, we felt this was not a worthy introduction of such a milestone in the mobile industry’s evolution and apparently so did ZTE.
And probably that’s why the manufacturer has announced the smartphone, again, but this time with a lot more fanfare. Join us after the break for more.
Today, at Beijing’s International Telecommunication Exhibition, ZTE has officially introduced the first Tegra 4 smartphone in the world – the ZTE Geek U988S.
The smartphone, which at least for now will be exclusive to China Mobile, is powered by a Tegra 4 CPU clocked at 1.8GHz and features 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (with the possibility of expanding it via an SD card), a 5 inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 13MP rear camera (F2.2 apperture) accompanied by a 2MP front facing shooter and a 2300mAh battery.
ZTE Geek U988S runs on Android 4.2 with Huawei’s own skin on top and costs 1888 yuan (roughly 310 USD).
