Let’s hope that the new year’s resolution of manufacturers across the globe was to bring timely updates to our smartphones and quad-cores residing inside of them. If that’s the case, then we might be lucky this time around. A few months ago we presented you with the first pieces of information in regards to the HTC Edge, the first quad-core smartphone from the manufacturer and the latest info seems to show that the device is indeed coming to our doorsteps. Unfortunately for those of us eager to see how Edge is carrying itself, it seems that the smartphone will skip CES in Vegas and go instead for the Mobile World Congress!
This latest theory came out from analysts over at JPMorgan Chase, claiming that the HTC Edge will be getting its first press-time next month at the MWC in Barcelona. Seeing that CES is just around the corner, we can’t be that focused on the event in Barcelona but you can bet good money that we will be covering it as well.
The rumors are saying that HTC won’t be showing off, at MWC, only the HTC Edge but a few more devices as well (HTC Ville, HTC Quattro and HTC Zeta – if Zeta doesn’t turn out to be vaporware), so we might see the Edge bring some friends to the party and if their specs line up with the mighty quad-core beast, we are more than interested.
HTC’s Edge is rumored to come with the NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, along with a 4.7 inch S-LCD 2 display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 8 MP main camera on the back and a 720p capable front-facing camera while RAM will most likely be at least at the 1 GB mark.
HTC Edge Release Date
When we first heard about the HTC Edge, rumors were claiming that this quad-core powered smartphone will see the light of day somewhere towards the end of Q1 / start of Q2 2012. Let’s hope that we will find out something more accurate at MWC.
For the time being we cannot officially confirm any of this so if the HTC Edge managed to grab your attention then make sure to check back often as we’ll bring you the news as soon as it’s out! Stay tuned!
Thanks Pocketnow for letting us know about the rumored MWC 2012 HTC Edge debut.
