Huawei Ascend Mate 7S: Multi-functional Fingerprint Sensor Teased

For the past couple of days, Huawei kept teasing some of the features flaunted by its upcoming flagship phone, presumably called the “Huawei Ascend Mate 7S”. As crazy as this may sound, the company’s next premium device could be equipped with a Force Touch-like feature, and assuming this is true, the Chinese manufacturer might beat Apple to it.

Huawei also teased a gesture-based feature called “Incredible Touch”, which although it might sound revolutionary, it doesn’t seem to offer much beyond the existing gesture-based features that allow users to launch applications by drawing letters or shapes on the screen. Unless it somehow mixes the pressure sensing tech with the gestures for some kind of new experience.

Interestingly enough however, the Ascend Mate 7S seems to have more tricks up its sleeve, as today, Huawei’s Senior Vice President (Yu Chengdong), shared another teaser image on Weibo, revealing a multi-functional fingerprint sensor. Keep on scrolling for the details.

Huawei Ascend Mate 7S to Rock a Multi-Functional Fingerprint Scanner

Today, Yu Chengdong confirmed that Huawei’s upcoming flagship will be unveiled in five days at IFA 2015 in Berlin. “5” seems to be the “magic number” though, as the VP also shared a new teaser image revealing that the fingerprint sensor fitted on the so-called Ascend Mate 7S (notice the stylized S in the above pic) will have five different functions. The tagline reads “5 powerful functions will fit in 1 square cm”, but what exactly these functions are is a mystery.

Huawei’s VP also hinted that that the smartphone can be unlocked by other method(s) than just fingerprint recognition. What other security methods will Huawei use is anyone’s guess, though.

Not much is known about the Huawei Ascend Mate 7S in terms of hardware specifications, but the terminal does seem to boast a few unique features that might catch the crowd’s attention at IFA 2015.

We’re looking forward to the smartphone’s release and we’ll keep you posted as soon as we find out more. Until then, care to take a guess at what these “5 powerful functions” might be? Feel free to share your thoughts below.
