The end of 2010 was probably very frustrating for the US Samsung Galaxy S users. The Samsung Epic 4G Android 2.2 update was rumored to be released on the 2nd day of Christmas and when it failed to materialize some even said the update was “on hold“.
Also, the last days of the year gave the Samsung Epic 4G, Vibrant and Fascinate owners false hopes of getting the Android 2.2 update as Samsung’s product pages listed, for a short while, the devices as running on the latest version of Google’s OS ( 2.3 doesn’t really count as it’s currently available only on the Google Nexus S ).
Well, enough with the rumors, we now have some official news regarding the Samsung Captivate, Fascinate, Vibrant and Epic 4G Android 2.2 updates ( as official as a Twitter post can be ) – Samsung USA has recently posted a couple of tweets assuring the US Galaxy S owners that the company is still working on the Android 2.2 Froyo update. Even better, the update seems to be in the testing phase which means it should be released pretty soon.
So y’all should play the waiting game a bit longer as the Adoble Flash 10.1 support, the ability to store apps on your phone’s SD card and all the other Android 2.2 goodies will probably arrive on your Samsung Galaxy S variant pretty soon.
In the meantime, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can try one update from the multitude of unofficial Samsung Galaxy S Android 2.2 variants ( a few weeks we even talked about a leaked version of the Samsung Epic 4G Android 2.2 update that has made its way into a few custom ROMs that are reportedly pretty stable ).
Thanks IntoMobile for letting us know about these upcoming Samsung Galaxy S Android 2.2 updates.
