Probably Final iPhone 6 Specs and Features Revealed By Hands On Report

September 9th 2014 marks a big milestone in the world of mobile, as the highly anticipated iPhone 6 will finally hit the stage, officially unveiled, by the end of the day. The time for leaks and rumors will soon come to an end, but surely history will repeat itself once the iPhone 6 hits the stage and the iPhone 7/6S will be the next-best thing expected to come out of the Cupertino giant’s factory gates.

That time has not come though, and now that the iPhone 6’s official unveiling is less than 24 hours away, a new wave of leaks has emerged, detailing out tons of aspects concerning the smartphone’s specifications. More after the break.

Final iPhone 6 Specs and Features Revealed?

The leaked information that is about to follow comes from a Weibo user known as Rui Kee, the same one who first posted pics of what is claimed to be the real 4.7-inch iPhone 6. The source revealed tons of details, screenshots and pictures with the device, in some sort of a Q&A session on Weibo, and to round things up, here’s what we can expect from Apple’s upcoming flagship phone, at least according to this information.

Spec-wise the handset will supposedly feature a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1334 x 750, but unlike what China Mobile revealed last night, this source says that there’s no sapphire glass to be found. Under the hood resides a dual-core A8 CPU clocked at 1.4 GHz (so it’s not clocked at 2GHz or more, like we previously heard), so once again the quad-core rumor takes a hit. Nevertheless, performance looks promising, as the A8 appears to be almost 20% more powerful than its predecessor. Note that in the below benchmark, the handset is being referred to as the “iPhone 7,2”, probably due to the fact the Geekbench doesn’t yet know how to call this thing, not being official yet.

Other than that, the handset will allegedly pack 1 GB of RAM (we’ve heard this one before, but people were very quick to dismiss it), iOS 8, and it will be offered with 128 GB of storage as an option. On the less bright side of things, the source suggests that the smartphone lacks NFC capabilities (this comes as a huge surprise, following the huge amount of reports claiming otherwise) and that it won’t benefit from dust and waterproof capabilities (China Mobile was claiming otherwise).

UPDATE: The source says that no NFC-related options are to be found in the settings menu. However, NFC might still be present, as the iPhone in the aforementioned user’s possession might be running on a “limited”/not final OS version.

In any case, the main camera is also a pretty big deal, and rumors in this regard seem to be more consistent. Allegedly, the iPhone 6 will sport an 8 MP camera, but quality should be improved from the previous model. The source seems to have captured a few shots with iPhone 6’s camera, and compared them in quality with those taken by the iPhone 5S as well as the LG G3, as seen below.

Since we’re on the camera topic, we should also note that the smartphone’s main unit does seem to protrude a bit, like previous leaks have shown. From a design standpoint this might not count for much, but that small discrepancy in the phone’s rear panel’s surface might lead to inaccurate readings when using certain apps and features, such as the level application.

So to round things up, the iPhone 6’s final specifications will allegedly include a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1334 x 750, a dual-core A8 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, up to 128 GB of storage, an 8 MP main camera and evidently, iOS 8.
