The original iPhone 5c was probably one of the oddest iPhones ever released. Under the hood, it was technically the same iPhone 5 released one year before it, but instead of wrapping its internals in a metal body, the 5c made use of a polycarbonate shell. It was also viewed as a rather expensive piece of hardware and not much of an affordable entry in the iOS ecosystem.
Despite the fact that the iPhone 5c may not have earned too many fans, rumors of a sequel have been flying around for many months now. The so-called iPhone 6c was first rumored to be unveiled along the iPhone 6s a couple of months ago, but obviously it did not happen. Now the rumors are making a comeback, and according to IHS’ Technology Research Director in China, the iPhone 6c will be released in mid-2016.

IHS: iPhone 6c Scheduled for a Mid-2016 Release?
Today we came across a short post from IHS’ Kevin Wang on the Weibo network, claiming that the iPhone 6c is expected to be released in mid-2016. No other details have been revealed, except that the 6c will apparently rock a 4-inch display.
As hopeful as this may sound for Apple enthusiasts out there who might be on the lookout for a budget-friendlier iPhone to be released in the coming year, we need to remind you that IHS’ Kevin Wang was also behind the rumors from back in August, suggesting that the iPhone 6c will be released by the end of 2015.
With that being said, we advise you to treat the information accordingly and keep a few pinches of salt nearby. Don’t make any plans for an iPhone 6c yet, but stay tuned and we will keep you up to speed, assuming that the story will develop further.
Until then, let us know if you would be interested in buying a 4-inch iPhone 6c, to begin with.
